Governor Cuomo’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), helps to transform downtown neighborhoods into vibrant communities where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work and raise families.
The City of Fulton is the Central Region’s 2019 recipient of a $10 million grant to support projects that will provide a catalyst for increased economic development, repopulation (particularly by young professionals) and urban vibrancy.
The plan displays an impressive past investment section that includes over $90 million of investment in the last 5 years, while introducing new transformative list of projects that would provide over $60 million of investment in the next 2-3 years with the infusion of awarded DRI funds. Job creation, investment, and creating that vibrant downtown appears to be the main focus in this blueprint for success.
The Planning Committee will work with the state consulting team, planners, and key municipal representatives to guide and direct the establishment of a community-based vision for revitalizing downtown and the development of a Strategic Investment Plan. Strategic investment plans will examine local assets and opportunities, and identify economic development, transportation, housing, and community projects that align with the community’s vision for the downtown, that are poised for implementation, and that can leverage and expand upon the state’s $10 million investment.
